Lights for the entire house

LED bulbs have become popular and have taken over from halogen, fluorescent and incandescent bulbs. The LED light bulb has a clear advantage over the other alternatives, as it uses less power, has a longer lifespan and turns on immediately.

It is important that you choose the correct Watt (W) as a light bulb that is too strong or too weak can give the room a wrong kind of light. A Kelvin number (K) between 2700 - 3200 is denoted as normal. If you want a brighter white light, choose a higher Kelvin number and if you want the light to be softer, go down the scale.

When choosing a bulb, look at which socket it has. E27 and E14 are the most common and used for lamps, whereas GU 10 and GU 5.3 are used for spots. If you have even smaller spots in the home, it will often be a G4 or G9 socket that you need. If you are looking for fluorescent lamps, choose a G13 socket. All the different bulbs are available as LED.

If you want a modern lighting solution, some choose to invest in products such as Philips Hue and other intelligent bulbs. There are models that can light up in white and yellow nuances, and models that can illuminate your room in 16.8 million different colours. Control the lights from a smartphone / tablet or let the house be home alone and watch the bulbs function as a modern on/off timer.
