Consistently precise exposure and color
α6700 delivers impressive exposure control. The new AE algorithm originally developed for full-frame models and capable of accurately detecting skin tones adjusts exposure for photos and videos accordingly. It also preserves natural colors under various light sources from sunlight to theatre and stadium lighting and reproduces skin tones, skies and plants realistically.
Choose your creative expression
Creative Look offers easy and enhanced creative flexibility. It includes 10 presets that you can use directly or adjust with 8 customizable parameters depending on the subject or scene and whether you are shooting photos, videos or livestreams. It lets you set the desired mood in advance and instantly share your images.
Optical 5-axis image stabilization
Handheld or in difficult lighting conditions – the built-in optical 5-axis stabilization system supported by precise gyro sensors offers up to 5 stops of shake compensation. It detects and compensates for various types of camera shake such as tilting and panning with longer focal lengths or during long exposures.
Precise pixel-level compensation
With improved design and control of key parameters α6700 delivers precise detection and control all the way down to the pixel level and fully exploits the sensor's 26.0 megapixel resolution to render images with the finest details.
Selectable RAW types and quality
In addition to compressed RAW recording α6700 supports lossless compressed RAW so you can efficiently store more high-resolution images in bursts. For JPEG and HEIF images there is a new light quality setting with reduced data size.
HEIF: high compression and excellent image quality
For the first time in an APS-C camera α6700 includes the HEIF format (High Efficiency Image File) with smooth 10-bit transitions for more realistic rendering of skies and skin tones in portraits. HEIF uses cutting-edge compression technology to reduce file size and storage space while maintaining consistent image quality.
Innovative AI processing
α6700 is equipped with an innovative AI processing unit that significantly improves performance including more accurate detection of various subjects.
Human body posture classification
α6700 uses subject form data for motion detection thereby enhancing eye detection. It applies learned human shapes and poses to accurately recognize body and head positions so it can track subjects even when they turn away from the camera or wear helmets or sunglasses.
Extensive subject recognition
α6700 now recognizes not only humans and animals but also birds, insects, cars, trains and aircraft enabling more flexible and reliable photo and video capture. In addition to eyes (Real-time Eye AF) the settings for humans, animals and birds now also include head and body recognition. Animal recognition is 40% better than on α6600.
Intelligent real-time tracking
The even more reliable AI-based real-time tracking supports various shooting scenarios and lets you focus on composition. α6700 can even follow people wearing helmets or animals turning away from the camera.
Faster more precise AF with wide coverage
The massive computing power and updated algorithms from the new BIONZ XR processor deliver significantly improved AF performance with up to 759 phase-detection points covering approximately 93% of the image area in stills.
Accurate AF in low light from -3.0 EV
Advanced AF algorithms achieve high precision even at dim light down to -3.0 EV in AF-S mode (equivalent to ISO 100 with an F2.0 lens). Focus Priority mode ensures reliable AF results in low light and with smaller apertures.
Over 1 000 images at 11 fps
The powerful BIONZ XR processor and large memory buffer increase write speed to memory cards so α6700 can record over 1,000 JPEG images up to 59 compressed RAW frames or 23 lossless compressed RAW frames in high-speed series.
Full-time DMF
When shooting with AF-C or AF-S autofocus you can at any time switch directly to manual focus by turning the lens focus ring. This makes it easy to move focus to another subject.
Focus bracketing for optimal images
α6700 automatically captures up to 299 images with shifted focus points at definable intervals and sequences. You can then choose the perfect image. During editing you can creatively merge images for impressive depth of field.
Flicker reduction
Reduce flicker from artificial light sources in photos and videos. Just select the "Anti-Flicker System" or use "Var. Shutter" to fine-tune the shutter speed according to the flicker frequency during video recording.
4K video capture for impressive quality
α6700 records 4K (QFHD: 3,840 x 2,160) at up to 60p (50p) via Sony's 6K oversampling technology. Compressing the extended detail in the output delivers 4K video with outstanding definition even at higher frame rates. The camera also supports XAVC S-I (All-Intra) and XAVC HS formats with 10-bit 4:2:2 color sampling.
4K 120p (100p) high frame rate recording
High frame rate recording up to 120p for 4K QFHD (3,840 x 2,160) allows capturing high-resolution footage directly in-camera. It expands creative possibilities in post where subject motion can be highlighted or shown in slow motion. The S&Q mode also lets you record slow motion/time-lapse sequences directly in the camera.
Expressive S-Cinetone™
Featuring the same color functions as the famous CineAlta and Cinema Line, α6700 includes Sony's S-Cinetone image profile as a preset giving images natural color reproduction and lifelike skin tones.
S-Log3 gamma curve with 14+ stop latitude
The S-Log3 gamma curve accentuates transition characteristics from shadow regions to mid-gray (18% gray) achieving up to 14+ stops of exposure latitude for flexible and creative color grading.
Real-time tracking for videos
AI-based real-time tracking provides a significant improvement in tracking performance by automatically detecting, following and focusing on the subject's eyes. In addition to touch tracking to start tracking a custom button can be used to follow the selected subject regardless of its position in the frame and focus area.
Improved video stabilization with Active mode
Active mode stabilizes handheld video reliably. α6700 can measure camera shake and precisely compensate for it optically delivering effective stabilization without sacrificing mobility even in 4K.
Breathing compensation for consistent field of view
For video breathing compensation with compatible lenses achieves a consistent field of view via Clear Image Zoom and suppresses changes from focus positions. Breathing metadata can also be used in post.

See how your footage will look after post-production while you record. You can import a custom LUT (lookup table) and preview it on the α6700's screen during recording.

α6700 is packed with features for video capture and production. Automatic framing adjusts the composition automatically while AI tracks the subject. For a cinematic look the timelapse function allows creating timelapse videos directly in-camera.

Powerful electronic viewfinder
The electronic XGA OLED viewfinder with approximately 2.36 million dots and around 1.07x magnification delivers an exclusive view. Twice the brightness of α6600 and a 33-degree wider viewing angle ensure a clear comprehensive overview. The viewfinder's refresh rate can be set to 120 fps (double speed) for smooth viewfinder images with minimal motion blur when recording moving subjects.
More shooting flexibility with tilting screen
α6700 features a 3.0-inch LC touchscreen with approximately 1.03 million dots in 3:2 format that tilts flexibly. It provides greater freedom for positioning and framing and offers versatile creative photo and video settings for handheld and gimbal shooting.
Intuitive touch control
Tap the screen to select key functions like the focus point or subject for tracking and press the shutter. Swipe from left to right on the screen to display touch icons for quick mode changes or other settings. The function menu (Fn) can also be shown with a swipe. During playback you can select images by tapping and zoom with intuitive gestures.
Improved menu structure
Based on feedback from professional photographers and videographers α6700's menu is now structured like the latest full-frame α series models. The logical layout enables more efficient access to key parameters such as frame rate, shutter speed etc. Quick Access buttons can be assigned for instant access and touch control allows fast adjustment of button settings.
