Other than humans, the African buffalo has no real natural predators as the buffalo can easily defend itself using its sheer size and strength. Lions, crocodiles, leopards and hyenas are all among the animals that prey on the buffalo, though they usually only succeed in capturing the buffalo in large numbers.
