De Joy-Con 2-controllers kunnen magnetisch aan de console worden bevestigd en op verschillende manieren, inclusief als muis, worden gebruikt. De nieuwe verstelbare standaard en de extra USB-C-poort maken het gemakkelijk om de optimale kijkhoek te vinden en tegelijkertijd op te laden.

De console heeft verbeterde CPU- en GPU-prestaties, wat resulteert in snellere laadtijden en gedetailleerdere graphics. Ook de geluidskwaliteit is verbeterd met ruimtelijke 3D-geluiden. Met 256 GB interne opslagruimte is er voldoende ruimte voor digitale games.

De Nintendo Switch 2 kan zowel nieuwe als compatibele Nintendo Switch-games afspelen, en bestaande Joy-Con-controllers kunnen ook worden gebruikt. De nieuwe dock maakt videouitvoer tot 4K mogelijk. De GameShare-functie stelt meerdere spelers in staat om hetzelfde spel lokaal of online te delen en te spelen.

Bovendien worden virtuele speelkaarten geïntroduceerd voor het beheren van digitale games, en Nintendo Switch Online biedt toegang tot online functies zoals GameChat. De console biedt ook verschillende toegankelijkheidsfuncties en beveiligingsfuncties via de ouderlijk toezicht-app.
